My dear old mum

The other day I posted a collage of dad through his life – see here. So today I present a similar grid for mum.

Monochrome (1 of 2)

When considering dad’s collage I thought about the form of representation in terms of static or linier (and preferred the former) whereas here I’ve considered an age old issue about whether to mix colour and monochrome.

Conventional wisdom suggests we should not mix the two but I think there are times, like this, when its appropriate. I think this because the change from monochrome to colour  emphasises the length of time mum’s life covered.

Mum thoughtime (1 of 1)

I like this collage. (However it is very noticeable to me that I have almost no photos of mum in her thirties.)

  1. I agree about the move from monochrome to colour being significant, Pete. Interesting that there are so few of her in her earlier years.

Same here re the colour. I’m guessing that there might be a lot more of your mum in later years because of the growth in the popularity of camera.
