Same images, different presentations

Here below are two ways of represented my late dad through time. The first in a simple grid.

Dad Multihead (1 of 2)

The second is a gif of the same images.

I much prefer the former as it allows ones eyes to pause momentarily on different portraits and ponder, whereas the gif is too quick, and so narrow in its evocation.

I popped into dad and um’s house yesterday. The gardens are in a terrible state and there are cobwebs throughout the house. I was expecting the visit to be emotional but it wasn’t. Mum’s presence was long gone and dad’s stuff didn’t pluck as me at all. After all, it’s in the past now.

I agree with you about the grid – a lifetime in squares, blocks of time that pass so quickly really.

  2. I like the grid too. There’s a real sense of slow change about it.
