Signified and Experienced

When I presented some work at the Camberwell Summer show a couple of months ago a colleague mentioned that there might be an opportunity to show some work as an individual exhibition at the RAUM gallery in Peckham. This has now come to fruition and so on Thursday October 6th my exhibition entitled Signified and Experienced will open.

The images I am showing are comprised of two sets: The “Signified” imagery plays on disabled symbolism this is juxtaposed against a set of 10 photos represented the experience of managing my paralysis. The aim is to represent both the cultural and personal.

The photos here don’t show the way the sets are presented. For example, the symbols are presented in various types of form, size and medium and the set of “Experienced” photos are presented in 12x12inch fibreboard with very heaving boarders.  However they provide viewers here with a sense of the content.

I’m really looking forward to the exhibition and hearing what sorts of senses the presentation evokes. I will post again when I have more details.
